BPMN 2.0 Modeling with Microsoft Visio

In the last days I have used Microsoft Visio 2010 for modeling processes. Since Microsoft Visio 2010 does not support BPMN 2.0, I searched in the Internet whether a plugin or another tool is available. I found two good sites: The first is a validator for processes defined in Microsoft Visio: > BPMN Method and Style Validation for Visio 2010 Premium. This site converts internally a .vsd file into a BPMN 2.0 file and validates the method and styles. The second resource is a > BPMN 2.0 XML Export & Import Add-on for Microsoft Visio 2010. This tool was developed during the work at a > Bachelor Thesis.

Nichts als Ärger…

… hat man mit dem > ARD ZDF Deutschlandradio Beitragsservice (formerly known as GEZ), wenn man denkt alles richtig zu machen. Ende Februar habe ich meine Wohnung in Paderborn beim Beitragsservice zu Ende März abgemeldet. Dies wurde mir Ende April auch vom Beitragsservice bestätigt. Mitte April habe ich beim Einwohnermeldeamt in Bielefeld meine neue Wohnung an- und meine alte Wohnung in Paderborn abgemeldet. Dies wurde mir vom Einwohnermeldeamt in Paderborn ein paar Tage später auch bestätigt. Trotzdem hat der Beitragsservice Mitte Mai den Beitrag für April bis Juni von meinem Konto abgebucht. Damit nicht genug: Heute bekam ich Post vom Beitragsservice mit der Mitteilung, dass eine Überprüfung der Adressdaten der Einwohnermeldeämter ergeben hat, dass ich für meine Paderborner Wohnung keinen Beitrag zahle. Aus meiner Sicht: Es wird Zeit, dass diese überflüssige Einrichtung aufgelöst wird. Das Einziehen vom Beitrag kann auch das Finanzamt übernehmen.

Notes 9 Experience

In the last two weeks I had two meetings. In both meetings I have used the IBM Notes 9 client. After the first meeting a participant told me, that he have to install the browser plugin for Notes 9. After the second meeting another participant told me, that Notes looks nice in a web browser. In both meetings I have used only the Notes 9 client. I was not aware that the Notes 9 client looks like a web browser application. But it seems that people, who do not use Notes everyday and do not know Notes 9, think so.

Liga total! Cup 2012 in Hamburg

Am Wochenende war ich in Hamburg zum Besuch des > Liga total! Cup 2012. Der Samstag begann mit einer ziemlich nervigen Anfahrt über die Landstraße nach Nienburg und von dort zur A7. Auf der A1 vor Hamburg war auch nochmal Stau, so dass ich erst viertel nach drei in Hamburg war. Nach dem Einchecken im > Hotel Astoria ging es zur > Imtech Arena. Das erste Spiel HSV gegen Borussia Dortmund war nicht gut gewesen. Irgendwie hatten beide Mannschaften – insbesondere aber der HSV – keine Lust oder sie konnten bzw. wollten nicht besser spielen. Dortmund gewann 1:0. Im zweiten Spiel besiegte überraschenderweise Werder Bremen im Elfmeterschießen den FC Bayern München. Franck Ribery und wieder mal Bastian Schweinsteiger haben die Elfmeter für Bayern verschoßen. Etwas betrübt ging es dann zum Steak essen ins > Block House am Hauptbahnhof. Am Sonntagmorgen ging es kurz vor Mittag zur Langen Reihe ins > Grünberg zum Frühstücken. Anschließend waren wir schon recht früh zur Arena gefahren um noch einen guten Parkplatz zu ergattern. Nach einer Bratwurst ging es ins Stadion. Im Spiel um Platz drei gewann Bayern München gegen den HSV mit 1:0. Im Endspiel gewann Werder Bremen im Elfmeterschießen gegen Borussia Dortmund. Da ich noch eine lange Rückfahrt hatte, bin ich schon zur Halbzeitpause beim Stand von 2:3 gegangen. Es war auf jeden Fall die beste Halbzeit aller Spiele. Immerhin gab es auf der Rückfahrt nur zwei Staus und so war ich fünf Minuten vor dem olympischen 100 m Finale wieder zu Hause.

Question about Web access licensing to an XPages application

I had a discussion about the licensing of an XPages application on a Domino server and we found no answer. I have a single XPages application (without messaging) and put this onto a Domino server (by an hoster). For example, a blog with sections only for specific users. The XPages application is open for the public in the Internet. So each one can create an account and manage his data in the application. This is a typical internet application. But what license is necessary for such an application? It is necessary to buy a user license for each (unknown) user? Or do I need only a user license to design the application?

Bad marketing

Today I read an article about a singer Santigold on > Spiegel Online. I never heard about she. The author of the article wrote she is the only true Pop Queen. So, I searched in Google for her and found her website: > Santigold.com. On the homepage the video of her new song is integrated. I clicked on it to see it, and I saw “Dieses Video ist in Deutschland leider nicht verfügbar, da es möglicherweise Musik enthält, für die die Musikrechte von der GEMA nicht eingeräumt wurden”. (In English: “Video is not available, since the video is not authorized by the GEMA.”) The reason is that the video was uploaded to YouTube. But, how bad is the marketing? On the homepage of a singer I should be able to see the videos. Other videos on the website are also not available.

I love to develop Lotus Notes applications, but sometimes…

Two hours ago I was very frustrated. Some time ago I created a new agent in a Lotus Notes database. I wrote the code and during a Sametime chat, my Domino Designer crashed. I restarted the Designer, but all of my code in the agent was lost. I started to re-implemented the code. I do not know why, but after several lines of code, I have closed the Designer and re-opened it. Then, I wrote some more lines of code. Some times later, my Designer crashed again. I restarted the Designer and all the new code since the last restart of the Designer was lost… 😦  I have saved the code several times before the Designer crashed, since I run the agent several times to test it. I had never before this situation. Normally, I implement the code in a library and do not use an agent interface. But I’m wondering why the saved code was lost after the crash. It is possible that the Domino Designer uses an internal cache?

 

I was a big fan of Firefox, but…

In the last weeks Firefox is a pain. Very often a new version of Firefox is available. After installing, the plugins have to be updated, some plugins does not work after an update. But the most important pain is the slow performance. Firefox needs very much resources of the memory. I hope that Firefox will be improved in the near future, otherwise I will say: I don’t like it and I will switch to Chrome or Opera.
