Maybe this is the future for a table at home or at the office: > Sony Life Space UX Tabletop Projector Concept (From CES 2014)
I was a big fan of Firefox, but…
In the last weeks Firefox is a pain. Very often a new version of Firefox is available. After installing, the plugins have to be updated, some plugins does not work after an update. But the most important pain is the slow performance. Firefox needs very much resources of the memory. I hope that Firefox will be improved in the near future, otherwise I will say: I don’t like it and I will switch to Chrome or Opera.
Who should I follow on Twitter?
Twitter has some improvements of the user interface and a brilliant suggestion whom I should follow on Twitter… 🙂
A short review of 2010
The year 2010 is over. Time to write a short summary about my public year. The year begun great. In January we won a > Lotus Award for the > Task Management project on > OpenNTF.org.
In February a day before my birthday I was in Winterberg for skiing. In May I saw my first Ice hockey match. It was the opening of the > IIHF World Championship. A week later I was some days in Hamburg where I saw the > Europa League final match and the > ‘Japanisches Kirchenblütenfest‘. A personal highlight was the journey to South Africa in June and July. I could see five matches at the > FIFA World Cup. Besides this I enjoyed the time in Riga in October.
Besides travelling I learned a lot about > customer management and biostructural analysis.
But 2010 was the ‘coldest’ year of my life. First, the winter in February and March was cold. In summer I was in the winter of South Africa and the last weeks were cold, too… 🙂

Migration from WordPress.com to WordPress.org
My blog is hosted by > WordPress.com. I like it, but you have some restrictions, e. g. you can not use JavaScript or most of the plugins which are available for > WordPress.org.
Both WordPress versions are free of charge. Since my blog is without advertising I pay nearly 30 $ each year. If I use WordPress.org I have to buy webspace, which will cost nearly 50 €/year at my webhoster.
At the weekend I installed WordPress.org on my local computer and tried to migrate the blog posts from my WordPress.com blog to the new WordPress.org blog.
First, I was very impressived that the installation of WordPress.org was very easy and without any problems. For the installation on Microsoft Windows you can use the > Microsoft Web Platform Installer, where you can select WordPress.org from the > Microsoft Web App Gallery. After the installation and configuration you can start with exporting the posts, pages and media items from the WordPress.com blog. You will get an xml file, which you can import to the new WordPress.org blog.
Some observations, I have made:
- Export and Import of embedded YouTube videos or Slideshare presentation did not work. You have to embed these things manually.
- To put a profile image in the sidebar you have to install a new plugin.
- On some images the border settings were lost.
And, of course, you will lost all links to your posts on WordPress.com, if you remove the blog. For this, you should not remove the blog and add links directed the new blog.
In the next step I will transfer the WordPress.org blog from my local computer to the webspace.
Don’t forget: Top Speakers at Powersphere
At the > Powersphere several top speakers will be coming. From IBM Brent Peters, > Ed Brill, > Niklas Heidloff and > Marcel Klotz will be there. Furthermore > Daniel Nashed will hold a presentation. News and interesting topics about IBM Lotus Notes/Domino, LotusLive, Lotus Traveler, Websphere Portal, Project Vulcan and several other topics. Don’t forget the 15th September. The Powersphere will take place in > Paderborn, Germany. You can register here: >registration page. So, please take note of the date and my blog or just > follow me on Twitter.
New update of Atom/RSS/Twitter News Reader for IBM Lotus Notes/Domino
Last week > PAVONE published a new update of his Atom/RSS/Twitter reader for IBM Lotus Notes/Domino. The update contains no new feature, but some detail improvements. Especially if you are working with the Newspaper functionality and the News preview. The > PAVONE NewsReader application can be used as a Lotus Notes application or as a Sidebar plugin. The main advantage against other Atom/RSS/Twitter reader are, that you can put it on your IBM Lotus Domino server and all people with access can read the news. It is not necessary that each user collects the news from the sources. If you like to try it, it is free of charge for personal usage.

New release of NewsReader: All-in-one: Atom/RSS and Twitter
Since last week the new release 9.6 of the > PAVONE NewsReader is available. The main difference to the release 9.5 is the > Twitter support. This means, that you can subscribe besides to your Atom or RSS feeds to your Twitter feeds.
The NewsReader is not a fully feature Twitter client for Lotus Notes as the > Twitter client by Thomas Adrian or the > TwitNotes plugin by Mikkel Heisterberg. With the NewsReader you can only subscribe to Twitter users. Since the preferred area is the usage in companies, the administrators can decide which users should be followed. So he can creates a new feed document in the NewsReader and enter the uri of the Twitter user, which should be followed. After that he can refresh the feed and gets the tweets of the user. Since the NewsReader contains a sidebar plugin it is possible to get the tweets into the Lotus Notes sidebar.
You can download the PAVONE NewsReader on the > download page. It is free for personal use in a Lotus Notes client.
