Lotus Connections and Lotus Quickr are available
I’m not the first blogger who writes such an entry in his blog today. But the new social software products IBM Lotus Connections and IBM Lotus Quickr are available!
New Podcast about Dojo and Quickr
The new The Taking Notes Podcast No. 62 reports about ILUG 2007, Dojo Toolkit and Quickr. Further, I found an interesting new blog Dojomino which reports about Domino and Dojo.
New meaning of CEO
On an IBM site I saw the following statement:
“Suggested retail price for Lotus Quickr is USD $70 per user. The IBM Lotus CEO (Complete Enterprise Option) Community Collaboration bundle that includes Lotus Quickr, Lotus Connections, and Lotus Sametime is available at a suggested retail price of USD $195 per user.”
I’m not sure whether ‘CEO’ or “IBM Lotus CEO” is the right abbrevation for a bundle… 🙂

Historische Dimensionen
Als ich vor gut einem Jahr im Berliner Olympiastadion war und auf dem Rasen sah, wie Oliver
Kahn Jens Lehmann für das Elfmeterschießen aufmunterte und auf dem Bildschirm zu sehen war, wie Jens Lehmann ein Zettel zugesteckt wurde, konnte ich nicht ahnen, dass dies eine sporthistorische bedeutende Zeit war. Am morigen Dienstag übergibt Jens Lehmann diesen Zettel an das Haus der Geschichte in Bonn, damit es im Foyer ausgestellt wird. Später soll dieses bedeutende historische Schriftgut sogar in eine Dauerausstellung übernommen werden. Immerhin hat das Schriftstück einen (Sammler-) Wert von einer Million Euro. Das hätte sich Andreas Köpke auch nicht träumen lassen, als er den Zettel an Lehmann übergab.
Sprühs an jede Wand…
Auf der IBM Lotus Fan-Ecke Webseite gibt es ein neues Spiel. Getreu dem Motto “SprĂĽhs an jede Wand… neue Männer Software braucht das Land” muss der Spieler hierbei alle Fenster von Häusern und Autos mit gelber Farbe besprĂĽhen. Damit es nicht zu einfach ist, steht mittendrin ein Polizist. Wird der Spieler von ihm erwischt, geht es ins Gefängnis. Insgesamt gibt es drei Levels. Die ersten beiden sind auch fĂĽr einen Nicht-Computerspiel-Spieler wie mich einfach. Beim dritten Level sollte der Spieler zuerst die Fenster um den Polizisten versuchen zu besprĂĽhen, da sonst die MĂĽhe eventuell vergeblich war. Ich wusste aber gar nicht, dass es eine Fan-Ecke fĂĽr Lotus gibt… 🙂
E-Mail-Management im CRM-Umfeld
Auf crmmanager.de ist heute mein erster Beitrag erschienen. Ein Abstrakt aus dem Artikel mit obigen Titel:
E-Mails sind aus dem täglichen Arbeitsleben nicht mehr wegzudenken. Sie sind eine schnelle und einfache Art der Kommunikation mit Mitarbeitern, externen Ansprechpartnern und Kunden. Doch immer wieder kommt es vor, dass Informationen aus E-Mails verloren gehen. Eine Ursache ist die Betrachtung von E-Mails als persönliches Eigentum des Senders und des Empfängers. Wird später eine Information zu einem Kunden gesucht, wird diese entweder gar nicht oder erst nach längerem Suchen gefunden. Dies muss jedoch nicht sein. Deshalb ist es notwendig die gesamte E-Mail-Kommunikation im CRM-System direkt in der Kundenakte zu verwalten.
Safari for Windows
I read on vowe.net that Apple will deliver the Safari browser for Microsoft Windows platforms. I have installed the public beta and tested it with my website. The website runs, but some differences exist to Internet Explorer and Firefox. For example, the size of text fields and the size of the dialog window (guest book entry) is not the same as in the other browsers. The dialog to enhance a picture does not work (on the travel sites). Further the text ‘Free RSS Reader’ is not visible. I’m not sure whether these things work in the Safari browser on a Mac platform.
Java EE based Workflow Engine
This week a new version of PAVONE Espresso Workflow was published. It contains a Java EE based workflow engine. You can design your workflow with a graphical modelling tool and run the workflow on the Lotus Notes/Domino based workflow engine or on the Java EE based workflow engine. As application server you can use JBoss or compatible server.
