First impressons from the ILUG 2007

Today, the ILUG 2007 conference in Dublin with about 250 attendees started. Very impressive what you get for a free entrance. The event is very professional and have interesting presentations.

Wasserkrater

Heute war ich zum ersten Mal im ‘Park der Magischen Wasser’ wie sich das Gelände der Aqua Magica in Bad Oeynhausen und Löhne nennt. Dort steht zur Zeit auch das größte, transportable Riesenrad der Welt. Eine weitere Attraktion ist der Wasserkrater (siehe auch das Schaubild auf Beschreibung von Wasserkratern). Von außen sieht der Wasserkrater (siehe Bild) ein wenig nach Spielzeug aus, aber man kann dort hinein und auch herunter gehen. Wer auf der falschen (Wind-)Seite steht wird jedoch ordentlich nass, wenn der Krater ausbricht…

New Typres

It is not true, that I bought my new Pirelli typres after I watch the new Pirelli movie. It is true, that I bought my new Pirelli typres after I saw this ADAC test report. For this, my car has ‘only’ the Pirelli P7 typres and not the Pirelli PZero.

Salsa in Bielefeld

Nach dem die Salsa-Bielefeld.de Website einige Monate ‘tot’ war, lebt sie jetzt wieder und es sind wieder aktuelle Informationen zu lesen. Zudem gibt es eine neue Website, die sich Bielefeld-Salsa.de schreibt. Also leicht zu merken… 🙂

Announcement of IBM Lotus Connections

The first release of IBM Lotus Connections will be released on June 29/30, 2007 (only english). The german version is planned for September 28, 2007. (One day after the Powersphere 2007.) The Linux server version and an integration with Lotus Notes and Lotus Sametime is planned for end of 2007.

Usage of RSS reader in the Lotus Notes 8 Beta client

The new Lotus Notes 8 Beta client has a built-in RSS reader. It is a litte RSS reader with a small set of functionalities.

But I like it, since it does not disturb the user interface. You can minimze or resize it to the height you want. If you have only a small set of feeds, it works very well for me. Unfortunately, the window handling of the news window is not good. You have to close the news window separately. Mostly I use another RSS reader application in the Lotus Notes 8 Beta client. If you have many feeds it is easier to navigate through the news. Further you can read the complete news text with images. Since the RSS reader has an own tab on the top of the window you can open it very fast every time.

Erste Wahl mit elektronischen Wahlgeräten

Heute ist in Bad Oeynhausen (bzw. im Kreis Minden-Lübbecke) Landratswahl. Dies ist die erste Wahl in Bad Oeynhausen, die komplett mit elektronischen Wahlgeräten durchgeführt wurde. Dementsprechend war dies auch für mich die erste Wahl mit so einer Wahlmaschine. Die Stimmabgabe geht zwar sehr schnell (und die Auszählung auch), aber die Benutzerführung ist nicht so einfach zu verstehen. In der Mitte lag der kleine Zettel mit den sechs Kandidaten. Dort musste man auf einem markierten Kreis drücken. Dann erschien oben in dem kleinen Display die Auswahl. Diese musste durch Druck auf einer danebenliegenden Taste bestätigt werden. Unten rechts waren Tasten für die Korrektur und für eine ungültige Stimme. Normalerweise würde man die Tasten zuerst unten rechts suchen, um die Auswahl zu bestätigen und nicht oben. Mal schauen, wieviele ungültige Stimmen es gibt…
